Ospreys

Post: # 259061Post Graye »

For anyone with Facebook (not sure if this will work otherwise) take a look at this link

http://www.facebook.com/#!/dyfiospreyproject

The project is about 5 miles down the road from us, a great place to call in for anyone heading towards Aberystwyth for their hols this year. Also right next door to the Ynys Hir RSPB site where Springwatch is filmed.

Just realised I sound as if I'm a promotor or something. Nothing of the sort but I just think the pictures are fabulous and it's so lovely to see these "sea eagles" are once again breeding in Wales (after nearly 400 years absence I understand). What with the red kites it's certainly a lovely place to be!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

We went to see them last year and wandered into Ynys Hir by mistake. They were a bit bemused that we weren't interested in Spring Watch, but the view of the osprey nest was pretty much as good from there as from the other side of the estuary, and the staff were really helpful and interesting.

Take nobody's word for it, especially not mine! If I offer you an ID of something based on a photo, please treat it as a guess, and a starting point for further investigations.
