I know it doesn't look good but who cares

Post: # 254873Post trinder »

I put my back out last weekend and my friends daughter (only 13) has been getting off the bus at my house filling 7 hay-nets and then walking the 2 miles home every day this week.

(Just to explain, I can manage the attaching of the hay-nets but the combination of twisting and shoving was too much)

So I made this for her.

I know it doesn't look professional but she will be pleased, as was I . Those containers are only about 5" so it should have been a little star shape. Never mind I will explain that to her.

Aw thanks both. I was quite pleased with myself. I won't show it to OH as the last time he remarked that it looked like something made on a game show and er I have to say he could certainly say the same about this one
Just for you Mike this is the really really red wine I made.Remember I put 40 fruit tea bags in instead of 20. It is very nice, I think it could be referred to as "fruity and full bodied"

Please note the posh bottle I bought a lot just before Christmas and made everyone home made alcohol. Funnily noone commented on that . Maybe I'll revert to shop bought

The cake looks lovely - did it rise that much or is that two of them put together?

Sorry peps I thought this post had gone dead/ dropped off.
MMM Yes the cake did rise well but that is the two together. The kids said the cake was delicious, their mum said ( a friend, so very honest) the cake was a tiny bit dry, but there was very little cake it was all cream, so the kids would not really pay attention.
Somewhere I read that if you crack and weigh your eggs you can adjust your cake mix accordingly. Well I only had one egg, so sugar flour and butter were weighed according to that rule? The next possible cause of dryness is that I was trying to guesstimate the microwave time. I ended up with 4 minutes but possibly that should have been 3 1/2.
The butter cream was a recipe for a carrot cake topping. 3oz butter 3oz soft cheese splash of vanilla extract and 4oz icing sugar (I substituted cocoa powder for 1oz of the icing sugar) I was very pleased with this not as heavy as a normal butter cream

Mike how could I :hugish: I didn't realise you could read that oops

sorry editted to read I did not realise that the instant memorable title given to the photo ( so that I could find it quickly) would be visible on this screen - as aopposed to any slight you might take Mike that I was suggesting that you might be unable to read (in a daft as a brush way)
