Always look in the barn

Post: # 188896Post marshlander »

Have you seen this fantastic story? - nothing in our barn when we moved in except some rotten doors, ladders with woodworm and some dead rats. :pale: Oh yes and a victorian bed spring (the bit you lay on without the head and foot boards) up in the rafters which is still there as we can't work out how to gt it down! :?

Friends of our found some larg stoneware jugs and some very old dollshouse furniture.

Anyone had a 'find' in their barn or even attic?

OMG, I wonder how much that lot's worth?

There was some tatty old furniture in a barn in an old house that I bought a few years ago. One piece was a sort of sideboard, cleaned up and painted it looks fabulous and I'm looking at it now, three houses later.

Another find, in the same barn, was a wooden trolly which also cleaned up nicely.

We don't have a barn; but I did find a cast-iron cauldron in our bin-shed when we moved in......(to the house, not the bin-shed).
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

3 months after moving in here, I was talking to hubby about painting some of the larger 'artefacts' that we inherited & using them as garden ornaments.... so when I said about painting the plough, he asked 'which one'? "Which one? What do you mean, which one? The plough down by the old house, you know... we only have one plough lying around", says I... laughing....
'No Jules - there's another in the back room of the derelict - it's bigger than the outside one as well'.....

And do you know, after 3 months of being here & going in & out of that room, I'd never noticed it!!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden
