ah cool - reminds me of when i lived on Dartmoor ( 1500 ft ASL ) we used to get snow like that - and fighting fires in it ( i was in the retained ( paid volunteer for those not familiar with the concept ) for 22+ years and spent some damned cold nights and days doing that ) but not seen much since i left the moors and moved to the city

please to send some to Plymouth - as i like the stuff and get much amusement from all the pussies down here winging and wining about a couple of snow flakes falling on top of each other

heck people it IS winter - we GET snow in the winter - not so often agreed - but it happens one thing i heard a LOT of people saying down here when we had the measly 1/2 inch or so , was "ooh i thought that this global warming meant we would not be inconvenienced with this stuff " - and then falling on their ass because they don't have the common sense to use proper footwear ( especially some of the females - style MUST rule over common dog )

Sorry Minnesota but it looks soooo beautiful - clear blue skies and all that gleaming white snow. As long as you don't have to go out much/far it looks perfect.

I'm lucky, I don't go stir crazy if I can't get out - although I've only tried it for a couple of weeks or so! Makes you appreciate a full larder, eh?

Just out of interest, when do you do things like apple pruning? Our season for doing it is Dec - Feb and I've got loads more in the orchard to do and we are just starting another cold frosty and probably snowy week or so. I don't know that I'll ever get it all done this year. The weather has just been against us since the beginning of November for any winter jobs.

the Big Snow pile is on top of my Garden
it's usually only about half that big.
Usually when Spring arrives,
I shovel it from that pile onto the blacktop driveway to melt,
so the Garden thaws a little quicker.
this year ? I don't know
I never had this much snow in the 17 years I've lived here.

Apple tree pruning...
usually Late Feb, or early March.
I wait til then because at that time of year I'm stircrazy
to get outside and do something. No much can be done
in the garden til the ground warms up...usually mid April.

We have snow again this morning! Not a lot, maybe an inch max but it had blown all over the windows and looked just like Xmas fake snow spray! Really pretty until I went out to see to the chooks, ducks and wild birds and have now made a mess of it.

We had a foot and half dumped on us last night, but still nowhere near as deep as that minnesota - and yeah all that virgin snow - how can you resist - have you built a snow dome shelter yet?

We are snow-free (at the moment) and it's lovely (sorry Minnesota!). Green grass and sunshine and if it wasn't for the pain from having all those teeth pulled on Tuesday I'd be out there birdwatching . I'm wishing it away for you, hope it goes soon.

if that was intended for me - then yes - normal for this area, we have just had adnormally mild winters the last couple, with lots of freezing temps but less snow, so this year we are catching up with the snow fall.
