just a moan
I cannot believe it, we've had gale force winds for the third month in a row and not enough rain, the wind right now is busy ripping the roof of the greenhouse re-build which it flattened a few months ago as well as the roof of my seedling house, its ripping my garden to pieces. its so very depressing.
i feel like I'm banging well you get the picture :banghead

Re: just a moan
You think you've got it bad? The wind's blown the arm off the Sky dish so no TV here
We don't know when it happened. We've not watched it since University Challenge on Monday so it could have been off for days!
What will my mother do when she gets back.
I should add that it sounds really bad where you are - are these winds unusual?
We're used to such winds up here - in fact don't tell my mother but there's a new satellite dish in the shed waiting to be fitted - OH must have been in the Boy Scouts

Isn't it supposed to be your summer time?

There have always been strong winds here but nothing like this and it's been getting more and more common over the last year, must eb global warming.
It disrupts TV signals, Radio, I even reckon its affect our cellphones sometimes.
The problem for me is we are hosting christmas and I need those vegetables especially as my green house is full of lovely zucchini plants and tomato plants which are strting to reach fruition.

Re: just a moan
Sorry about your weather, wind is so drying as well as being generally annoying and irritating. I can quite understand how people go mad due to certain winds!
Why not try growing your zucchini and tomatoes outdoors? With your climate I would have thought it would be far too hot to grow them under glass or plastic. Even in England people can grow zucchini (and tomatoes) outdoors!

Hi MMM
Hows the pumpkin chutney going
I've been growing both indoors and out as the weather has been so weird lately I'm hedging my bets
But the outside ones are not as ready yet.
Sorry about the grizzle poeple just needed to have a vent as it was getting so frustrating.

I'll type up the recipe and also my tweaks and pm you with it later Homegrown. Tasted OK in the pan but won't know for sure yet for several weeks!
You're allowed to moan about the weather, it's a national pasttime with the British anyway.

Re: just a moan
I planted my squash plants up and had them in the green house until I thought all the frosts were over with but as soon as I planted them out we had the worst frost in weeks and it killed them all.
So I planted seeds straight into the soil outside and they had just started to sprout and really start growing and we had another flipping frost and it killed them again!!!
I'm on my third attempt now but the wind is so drying that they all look a bit brown around the edge of their leaves and really aren't doing so well

Re: just a moan
Our garden it just a mud bath - in fact I'm thinking of giving the chooks wellies!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
