Four seasons in one garden

Post: # 175655Post Odsox »

I like this time of year, the busy seasons are over but there are signs of what was and what will be .. if you look.
For summer I still have roses blooming.
For autumn, plenty of signs there, but if I have to pick one then it is the autumn fruiting raspberries, still producing flowers and fruit.
For winter, my winter jasmine is in full bloom.
And for spring, I noticed today that the daffodils are coming up ... 2 weeks later than last year for some reason.

Anyone else got 4 seasons at the moment ? (apart from Vivaldi) :flower:

Summer - plenty of flowers still flowering, strawbs still producing and salad still being picked and my favourite - a foxglove still in flower!
Autumn - autumn colours, leaves everywhere and crunchy acorns underfoot
Winter - winter flowering pansies (self seeded!) galore plus a hellebore flowering (but it seems to start in August, this one!!!)
Spring - loads of seedlings coming up e.g. busy lizzies, cosmos, marigolds, nasturtiums plus the odd primrose flower here and there!

Humph - we only seem to have winter.
Lots of mud 'cos it's chucked it down over the last week or so
And pink chickens bottoms and no eggs 'cos they are in the moult!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

We had one optamistic blossom on our crab apple tree last week!
The gales of the weekend put it to flight, though. There is a solitary bloom on the Summer flowering clematis, not sure if it's late or confused
Autum here was glorious, the best colour I've seen in the ten years we've been here.
Winter is represented by my wooly bedsock...promised 'minus' temperaturs tonight
