Doesn't this just rip ya nitey

Post: # 171486Post homegrown »

Local New Zealand news

two older ladies here have been making jams and prserves for years for the local Hospice shop to help with fundraising, some grumpy old sod makes a complaint and the local council shuts them down using a law from the 1970's that states if you are making stuff more than certain number of days a year you are a commercial operator and cannot produce food for sale in your own kitchen.

I don't know about the rest of the planet but that would just about kill most PTA's, church groups and self-asufficent families in NZ

Thoughts :angryfire: :dontknow: :banghead:
Our remote ancestors said to their mother Earth, "We are yours."
Modern humanity has said to Nature, "You are mine."
The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth so that through his mouth we may say to the universe, "We are one."

Miserable old interfering grouch. Hope he never has to be resident in a hospice. I was always told don't destroy someone elses plans unless you have better plans to offer. Now he's had the two jam ladies stopped what's he going to contribute..

Can't even accuse him of being a 'do-gooder' because he's just undone the good that those two ladies have been doing. :(

How very sad, and how very petty of the man!
the ever growing luvpie household currently contains, 4 boys, 4 chickens, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 fish, an empty tropical fish tank waiting new arrivals, now are we daft to look at our broody hen thinking, if we got some fertilised eggs........

How was what two people are doing in their home, without any known history of causing harm to others, any of this man's business? That just ticks me right off :angryfire:

My two cents,

Such a shame, what is wrong with these people? Aside from not being able to raise cash for charity now the poor olld ladies probably have been stripped of a much needed social activity.

I am really going off humans lately :(

Back when I was raising funds for our local State Emergency Service (SES) group, we were raffling off some beer. There was a "rival" group, (who considered themselves to be our rivals anyway), who were run by a solicitor. To our surpirse the solicitor came and bought a ticket. About 15 minutes later we had a very embarrased policeman came and inform us it was illegal to raffle booze, cigarettes or money.

I still think that was a pretty low act!

Such a shame, and what benefit do the 'snitchers' gain?

A sense of achievement that they stopped people raising money for charity?..

Hmmm...

You have to fight beauracracy with beauracracy. If you can only make jam for for so many days then make it for one day less. If that is not sufficient, make it in two different places. use every avenue or trick to overcome these numheads. These stupid beauracrats can't be allowed to get away with such petty mindedness.

Can the ladies donate the homemade jam directly to the hospice and then the hospice would be responsible for selling it?that way they ladies are not selling it, the hospice is and is the hospice not a business? therefore legal???

Thats what they were doing, the problem is that its being sold since it wasn't produced in a commercial kitchen, which ofcourse make it so expensive that people wouldn't buy it.

Over here it just the OSH people (Department of Occupational Health and safety gone so @#$% pc mad.

Its like the Foo9d issue in Daycare centres, becauase our indigenous culture (Moari) consider it taboo to play with your food children were no longer allowed to make vege sculptures or pasta pictures. Thankfully enough people have seen the non-sense of it.
