Are you a klutz?

Post: # 168826Post Millymollymandy »

I am! I managed to knock over 1 1/2 jars of hot purple jelly as I was putting it into jam jars  - then was faced with the decision of 'help what if it stains' (elderberry and redcurrant  ) as it was swirling all over the work top and around the hob, or carry on and bottle up the rest before it starts setting! So I bottled up the rest, which is probably a good thing because I'd have burnt myself otherwise. At least when I did clear up the mess I knew I'd reached setting point OK as it was starting to jellify.

Still got 6 jam jars full so it's not all that bad, and luckily it didn't go all over the floor!

Any other klutzes out there? :withstupid:

I'm so glad to hear it's not just me! I regularly walk into walls, trip over stuff (that isn't really there! :? ) spill things etc etc etc. In fact my OH is so used to me shouting "oh bu**er" when I'm in the kitchen that he automatically makes for the lavender oil!

I was recently making some soft cheese and had a big bowl of curds and whey to pour through a muslin. I do this by lining another bowl with the muslin, then gathering up the edges of the cloth and poking them through a cupboard door handle before knotting them and pegging them together (sounds complicated but it works - usually). Unfortunately, on this occasion, as I lifted it all a corner slipped out. Curds and whey everywhere! All down my clothes, in my shoes, all over the hob and down both sides and the back of the cooker, all over the work top, up the walls, on the underneath of the wall units, plus quite a bit on the floor. It was a hard job cleaning all that up. Believe me, I stood and watched him.

Oh god broken bones, bruises and many X-rays, that reminds me why I decided to stop horseriding as me as a (ahem) 40 something and falling off horses just don't go together any more sadly. :( :( :( Mind you even me on the ground and horses don't seem to go together in a very safe way (for me that is) either!

Rosendula I had to read out your post to my OH as he wanted to know why I was guffawing. He said about the last sentence that you are a very naughty girl.

Oh yes, world champion klutz here!

If there's something to be knocked over, tripped upon or to injure oneself upon... I will find a way to do it

I am frequently Klutzy. Last Saturday I spilt any liquid I got hold of: Water, milk, laundry detergent, dish soap, pop and more water that evening  .

I hate it so much because it makes me feel like an idiot. So knowing I am not the only one is reassuring. Now I am an idiot with other klutz-inclined friends  .

Have a great day everybody. :flower:

Generally...no, but since i came to China, i've got a permanent bruise on my right thigh from walking into the computers in the teachng rooms! They leave the towers sticking out, and every time i walk past the thing, i end up making the bruise worse!!

I'm glad you feel reassured that you are not the only one, Martina - now so do I. I certainly felt a right idiot (plonker in my terminology  ) knocking over my jelly! It tastes good though!

I used to have a little dog who became very excited and wet himself every time the door bell rang. One day as I ran after him to mop the wee of the laminate floor I slipped on it and bashed my foot into the door frame, breaking my little toe. When I explained to the casualty doctor what had happened he creased up laughing and told me not to wear flip flops!

I did something quite similar!

The night before i started my old job, Finlay (my dog...supreme sock stealer!) stole a pair of my socks. I went running through the house after him and my ankle turned over, but the rest of me kept going...there was a loud crack and i laid on the floor in agony! I went to casualty a few hours later and there was a hairline crack on my ankle joint....i started the new job on crutches because i couldn't walk...all beacuse of the Champion Sock Stealer that lives in our house!

He did come and 'kiss' me better a lot though...i think he was a bit worried that i'd stopped chasing him and was laying on the floor squealing...and i had no defence against the big pink towel that comes out of his mouth!
