This seems like the best place to post this...

Post: # 166550Post Gem »

This may well be an irritatingly frequent post but I would just like to say how lovely its been finding this site and seeing all the chatter between like minded people.

I know I am starting to sound soppy, which surprisingly enough isnt really my thing, but for years I have been muddling along, working things out for myself, making google my best friend and generally accepted that being a naturey person and trying to live on as little as possible whilst making the most of a little was an oddity with most people (good friends and family alike) looking at you with patronising smiles and thinking of the ish way as 'your little hobby'.

What a damn delight to find a whole forum of people who seem to enjoy and endure similar experiences and goals. The lack of self sufficiency Nazis is particularly refreshing (scary bunch). No snobbish elitism, just an ideal that you should do what you can when and how you can.

Good work Ish creators!!

Yep, can only agree. And don't worry about feeling soppy - I do, sometimes, too!

I was getting more and more depressed, to the point where I was seriously considering medication. NO-ONE around here is even remotely ISH. (Apart from my wonderful Hubby & two brilliant girls, obviously).

Then, one miserably day last Winter, I found ISH. It continues to lift my spirts, faith in some of humanity, educate and delight....

Sir Andy & Sir Dave maybe? For services to the Planet & humanity!

this place is my bolt-hole. it is my own little oasis in the mental crap that is the internet, and I think it's because I know I can come here, have differing ideas from some people but never get shot down for it.

I've only seen one minor argument on this site, and it was over as soon as it had begun yet on different sites... man i wont go into it lol!!

We all go through it Gem.

I remember posting a very similar thread after everyone had been particularly supportive.

Soppiness? Eugh! Far too curmudgeonly and pragmatic for all that huggy bunny sort of stuff. :pale:

Okay, maybe there's just a little, ickle bit of soppiness tucked down the back of the sofa. ..

Aw, nice one folks. When the forum was first set up I really tried to set a tone and luckily the current moderators have really carried on with it. I will accept the thanks for starting it, but really you need to thank the mods for all of their hard work behind the scenes keeping the forum, well great. Oh and of course everyone else seems to just, well get it!

What is great about this place is that people do work together and don't judge. Yep the forum members are great too..........................................It's contagious this gushing init  :andy:

What Ann said!

We met some lovely people when we came over a year and a bit ago. they opened their homes to Mrs Wombat and myself and made sure we had a wonderful time. It would not have been possible without Ish so "onya Andy and Dave!"

I have to agree-we're friends here, we stick by each other through stuff and a big Cheer to all my Ish friends, we put up with each others ups and downs, cheer the ups and commiserate with the downs.

I'm away over here in Canada, otherwise mrsflibble and Russian Doll would have me dropping in for tea and offering to play with their kids.

I get soppy too, and there are some days when I wish I had plane fare to come over and spend time with my friends.

 Lois

I think its the great mods (ok, ok, i've been abit slacking in the mod stakes lately...).

Actually, being a moderator of this forum is a lot easier than some other moderators that i've spoken to, we very rarely have any problem that we really have to step in and deal with, and there are really no members that i can think of who shouldnt be here. Other mods that i've spoken to have problems with flame wars and trolls, and we don't tend to get a lot of that - someone always posts somethng sarcastic in reply and the whole things cools down. I also love the fact that the members are involved in the moderation - its you guys that tell us about spam that we might not have seen (we don't all read all the threads).

I've met a few Ishers too, and each and every one of them has been absolutely lovely!

I love you guys! *wipes away a small tear* you always support everyone in everything that they do, and any problems they've had. Sometimes, a few well written words can mean more than all the hugs in the world, and you're all great at them.
