Still around...

Post: # 156792Post ina »

... and back online again. Had to depend on public library computers for almost half a year - and there is never enough time for everything, especially if you are looking for work, and somewhere to live! At least, after four month I got a place to stay - I'd spent the winter in a caravan, but am now in council housing. Still no job, but a few interviews lined up.

And now I have to read the 1,000 odd post since I was last logged on...

Nobody is too old... or so they say. Don't give up. I had nothing for 5 months or so, and now I have three at once. Typical.

Hello! I've been wondering about you - OMG no job and living in a caravan in winter. Was it cosy with the goats? No seriously did you have to rehome them? :(

Was this all your own choice (in which case :thumbright: and good luck) or not (in which case :( :( :hugish: :hugish: lots of hugs and commiserations)?

Yes - couldn't be better for a council house! Garden, quiet area, lots and lots of cats, nice neighbours.

Well no - the caravan wasn't exactly cosy... No water for 10 days at a time during the longest cold spell, no drainage for 7 days, either. The goats had to be rehomed (with friends, so I can still visit them). One of the cats went AWOL just before I moved into the house...
It was my choice to leave the job - let's say, the actions of one particular colleague of mine pushed me into making that choice... And there are very few jobs going in my area of work - thanks to the government not waking up and funding the type of research we need to be able to feed ourselves in future (don't get me started on that! ) - and of course, for all those other jobs I'm either over qualified, or under qualified, or too old, or don't have the right type of qualification... Which means that I might get myself even more qualifications, only to be even more over qualified in the end! But it would keep me off the streets for a while, at least.

Right, it's clearer now as to why you were moving house.... are you still looking in the same area or might you have to shock horror move out of Scotland  or to another part of it? I don't know how big your search area is (hey it might include Germany for all I know!). It's bad enough leaving a job but when your home comes with the job it must be a very hard decision to make. :pale: Sorry about your cat :( but glad the goats have got good homes - and you too now, and good luck with the interviews!

Cheers!

No, I'm not looking in Germany - don't really want to go back there - but I am looking all over Britain (while hoping to find something nearer by, because, quite frankly, I'd hate even having to move house again... haven't even finished decorating this one).
