It's never wasted if you learn a skill and it's nice to have a career you can fall back on if your chosen path in life comes to a dead end, I started out as a Mechanic and then progressed onto Computers but I carry in my head all the skills I've learned and you never know when something as simple as knowing how to solder a pipe will make constructing a garden tool easier ;)

Welcome to the best-Ish site :D

BTW have you got any spare 10mm copper pipe lying about, I need to make a beer chiller?

Hi and welcome! Oh and it's never a waste of time to learn anything!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

haha, by 'waste of time' i meant how everyone (tutors, local MPs, the government etc) claim there is a lack of plumbers, therefore id be in demand and everyone would want to hire me.. but that hasnt been the case =[ so in that sense, it is a waste of time, but yep, im defo glad about the skills ive got now. wont have to rely on some guy to fix my tap =D

and no, i dont hoard copper pipe. the last bit i pilfered from college was made into an xmas tree fairy..
