Maybe we should have iron-on logos - then we can iron them onto the undies (long Johns for me!) of our choice...

Oh I was in two minds whether to go for the undies or the planner. How about a planner on undies?! (They'd have to be more like long johns...now there's a thought...we could all do with a pair of those)

An excellent idea, how about our antipodean friends? they would have to have their own edition.

Kind thoughts

you would pay £10 for it? I drew one up the other day on a bit of paper for myself, a column for how far apart the veg has to be, a column for how far each row has to be then the season it is to be planted and the season for when harvested. - Is that the sort of thing that you mean?

I guess it could be pretty easy to do up a PDF file of one and make it a bit more comprehensive. The one I made up for personal use says early spring, spring, late spring, early summer for the times on stuff so could easily be transfered down under. - £10 seems far too much to charge though.

or have an interactive calendar on the website?? We could all add any events/planting dates for our own local area.

If I did that I'd come to the conclusion that I need a plot that's ten times the size of mine! Too depressing. So all I did was list my seeds with times for sowing/planting etc. And now I'll just get going and see how far I get...

andy i meant one of those diarys what you buy in whsmith but have them printed with a logo on and details of each month what needs to do in the garden as well as events etc , thought you could sell them as gardeners diary and organiser and sell them on ebay 0ct onwards and you could make some money for self sufficientish . just an idea

It would be interesting if we could use an online system to record what we're doing in our gardens and compare progress with each other (co-operation, not competition). For example, if I planted beetroot, I could see who else is growing it and get an idea of whether mine are doing okay. Next year, I could look back and make a decision about not only whether to grow it again but also whether to try a different variety or growing technique, based on what someone else has proved to be successful.

It would be a big programming project though and also only be as good as the data that people put into (enough people keeping accurate notes on the crops you're interested in)! Hmmnn... I wonder if anyone has already built something like that?

An online diary would be wonderful, or perhaps just an organised section of the forum. I have a spreadsheet with bars for all my different crops so I can copy and paste them into cells representing my beds, based loosely on Dick Kitto's insanely complex system. That way I can see which bits of the beds are going to be empty, and until when, so I can stick short-term crops in or decide when to plant green manures.
