I think I'm going to get a greenhouse

Post: # 142582Post Peggy Sue »

I've thought about it for ages, just bout long enough to justify the money! It's only going to be a 4x6 but having shopped around (for about a year) I've found a B*Q one thats £150. Most of them are more like £250 (I need polycarb I have a dog and the last glass one used to shatter a few pains everytime a storm blew)

Now I like a bargin, but false economies are usually costly, what I don't want to do is waste £150 and end up buying one for £250 anyway. Anyone got any advice on pitfalls?

Any advise on pegging it down would also be much appreciated as I'm complete greenhouse virgin

Have you had a look at norfolk greenhouses. I've never seen one for real but they look OK.

I was always told by an old gardener who was a show champion as well to have a greenhouse with a small wall of about 2 ft in hieght. Then glass above that. The reason being that if you grow stuff that likes heat but shade then you can put it on the floor near the wall.

Can you not get some old bricks from a skip raiding, clean them up and get a brickie to lay them for you then build a frame ontop of that filling it with your poly sheeting ?? just a thought but you will pronbably get a bigger and better G/house and cost less.
