palpable sense of the kindness of others

Post: # 137548Post mrsflibble »

anyway, my good news... i went in my parent's loft when i was there to do a recce and see if i still have stuff stored up there; ok i may have moved out when i was 19 and i am now 26 but i know theres more of my stuff up there!.
i found two boxes which said "sophie clothes age 2+" i had no idea what was in there cos i didnt remember the boxes. turns out when i was pregnant, my mum's mate "auntie" Alison had given mum a load of her daughter's clothes, mum had washed them, told me abnout them (?) and then put them in her own loft in vacsealed bags inside boxes.

8 pairs of tights in sophie's size, trousers, skirts, tops... loads of stuff, most of it hardly worn and all of it from places like babygap and monsoon 'cos Alison's hubby David is a label-wh*re!!!! i have no need to buy or make her anything till the weather starts getting really warm! (but i'll still make her a flowery pinnafore i think 'cos the fabric is screaming "use me"). there was even a fimble's bobble hat which soph pulled out of the box, shoved on her head and is still refusing to remove it some 4 hours later!!!

i brought home some outfits for her to wear to school this week and the rest i will pick up next friday when we go to mum's again. i was sooooooo happy!! I must get a bottle of wine for Alison and David too cos although i must have thanked them at the time, i wasnt aware of just what was in the bags.

because they were vacsealed before putting them in boxes, they still smell all of mum's washing conditioner too and they've been in her loft for 3 years!! big up JML vacuum bags!!

i will be ironing the dress and skirt i have brought home cos it deserves to be ironed!

i am just so pleased; they could have flogged it all on ebay but thdy didn't. they chose to pass it on to my squidge. it couldnt have come at a better time.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very
ve-he-he-he-heryyyyyyy soooooooooooon!!!!

Good job you found them when you did, otherwise you would have been seriously p****d off! It must be heaven to have so many nice things at once.

My son has put away a pair of shiny red patent Moschino Mary-Jane's I bought for my grand-daughter (on EBay so not expensive) when she was three. As they have a new baby girl due in February I must somehow remember this in a couple of years time and remind them. I bought them because I remember desperately wanting shiny red shoes when I was a little girl and never being able to have them. Apparently she was so taken with them when they arrived that they discovered she had got up in the night and put them on before going back to bed in them!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

My 17 year old has taken to wearing a 1969 cotton jacket of mine - as a crop jacket ( I was not 17 in 69). The other day I found a photo of me wearing it - so I must record her in it - then keep it for a grandchild......

I get given some lovely hand me downs - once people find out I will be grateful (so few people are these days) I get more and more offers - means that when we want to spend a little bit on clothes for her it can be really nice things from posh places (during sale times obviously)

Then it all gets packed up and sent to my niece (there is 2 years between E and A though so it is a bit of a wait)
