MRI's, fun fun fun!

Post: # 130232Post Ellendra »

I started feeling dizzy last wednesday, went to the doctor, they couldn't find anything wrong, but said to come back if it got worse. Next day it was worse, so I went back, they still couldn't find anything wrong. Yesterday I called them to see what the results of some of the tests were, they were all negative, but because I was even worse the nurse told me to go to the Emergency Room. So I did. They couldn't find anything wrong.

Are we sensing a pattern here?

Today I got hold of my regular Doc. He looked at me and asked what kinds of sedatives I was taking. When I told him I wasn't taking any, I just felt like I was, his jaw dropped and he said "Oh, THAT'S not good!"

I guess I looked as bad as I felt. At any rate, I get to have my head examined! The Doc faxed a request to the hospital for an MRI as soon as possible, said they might even get me in tomorrow or Wednesday, haven't heard specifics yet, and then an appointment with a nuerologist. I'd appreciate any prayers and happy thoughts you folks could send.

(Any typoes are to be blamed on the room spinning)

Not so good news about you not feeling well - but good news about you getting a proper exam now! Let's hope they find what causes it soon, and get the room to stop spinning around you.

All the best, Ellendra. :flower:

Could be labrynthitis (sp?), vertigo etc?

I had a very bad attack of vertigo a few years ago - couldn't even sit still on a chair without feeling sick.

I had hearing tests, and MRI, and was pronounced generally ok. I was given some anti-psychotics and told to go home. About 4 weeks after this, the dizziness and spinning lessened and suddenly one morning I was fine, as if nothing had happened :?

I sometimes get (very occasionally) vertigo attacks, but keep a supply of the tablets with me, just in case

Certainly wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery Ellendra!

Could it be Menier's (sp) Syndrome?

Thinking of you Ellendra. My son had similar problems and they diagnosed labyrinthitus at first, then they consider menieres, then they decided that it was M.E. - he had test after test, including MRI and nothing was found.

The MRI found . . . nothing.

The neurologist found nothing wrong.

The blood tests found nothing wrong.

I've lost 50 IQ points in 10 days, and nobody can find any reason why. I'm typing this during a rare moment of lucidity. Most of the time I'm down to 3rd grade math and logic skills. Yesterday I even forgot my name for a while.

I've got one more test on Friday, and then the next test the earliest opening is in January.

I'm screwed.

I'm sorry you are still having all these problems. I hope something good comes from your Friday appointment.

Have you thought whether this might be caused by some sort of allergy? I had something quite similar a few years ago after we had upholstery cleaners in - it turns out I was allergic to the fluid they had been using. Everytime I left the house I started to feel better - only to lapse everytime I went home. This eventually gave us the lead to where the problem lay. Did anything specific and unusual happen at around the time the symptoms first came on? Just a thought but the doctors don't seem too be doing to well...

Don't give up Ellendra!

Obviously I don't know the full situation, and I'm NOT a doctor... but the doctors kept saying they didn't know what was wrong with my son and eventually said it was M.E. http://www.afme.org.uk/

He had a lot of your symptoms... a young teen behaving like an old man with no energy... dizziness... feeling sick.. drowsy and unable to concentrate etc. It was as if he was on drugs, but he wasn't. It was a few months before he showed any signs of improvement.. and the improvement happened all at once. It has recurred a few times... but fingers crossed he's been ok for over 6 months now (don't you just hate saying something like that for fear of tempting fate)
