Day of prayer

Post: # 129946Post prison break fan »

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone can help me I would be very grateful. Yesterday an elderly neighbour, (older than me!) told me that today, 1st of Nov. people are being asked to pray for world leaders to find peaceful solutions to the world's problems. She said it was on the internet! Any infor very welcome! Many thanks in anticipation. pbf

Apparently the priest in our local town told everyone that they should pray for all the uncelebrated saints today, what with it being I Santi. I struggle to think of saints and world leaders in the same bracket. In fact, it's difficult to think of them as anything other than chalk and cheese.

Today is All Saints Day, but I guess since most of the better known saints have their own feast days, today is a more likely day to pray for/to the other saints.

Tomorrow, the 2nd, is All Souls Day, the day to pray for all the dead, it tends to be directed towards those who may not yet have made it to heaven and are in purgatory.

There are days that you would pray for certain types of people - medical profession, the forces, teachers, I'd imagine there is a day for leaders but I doubt it would be the 1st or 2nd of November - naturally, I could be wrong.

I was brought up Roman Catholic with a Jesuit education - It is possible that different churches/factions/religions might do it differently.

Thankyou Contadino and Annpan for replying to my plea! i didn't find out anymore about it, but prayed for them anyway! Couldn't think of many world leaders so lumped them all together! With the horrific images from the Congo yesterday it seems they need all the help they can get. pbf

I was born on St Luke's day. I've always known that he was the patron saint of doctors, but I found out the other day that he was known as a wolf killer!!!!!!! I'm horrified, I really hope my dogs don't hold it against me.

I'll join in. The day doesn't matter so much to me. I'm praying for American especially much today, being as it is election day. I'm praying that the votes are counted as they were put in, and not according to Stalin.

I'll pray for all the world's leaders: to be noble-minded, honest, of high principles, kind, of strong backbone, articulate, and all those things we want in people who are to serve others.
