hay boxes and brownies
hey guys my oldest hannah is in the brownies and for her advanced cooking badge she has to cook something using an alternate way of cooking....i want to do a hay box....any suggestions tips etc on how to make a nice easy meal for an 8 year old to cook it in it as she has to prepare it herself ...also any tips on the hay box...ta in advance my lovelys

My "haybox" is a coolbox into which I half stuff an old sleeping bag, put a hot water bottle, then then the pot then stuff the remaining sleeping bag on top. Then the lid obviously.
How about a simple veggie casserole. Slice all veggie thinly, bring to the boil and then cover and straight into the haybox, all day. If yu want to add chickpeas or some other pulse, you will need to boil them hard for 10 minutes before transferring to the haybox.

make sure it's really hot before it goes in the haybox.
I have "victorian kitchen" on dvd and one of the episodes in that shows a haybox and a stew to go in it if ya wanna borrow it.
