Luck

Post: # 123318Post StripyPixieSocks »

Never, EVER mention anything about luck...

We went to IKEA today and we always laugh about getting the wrong turning at Lakeside Thurrock and having to go through the carpark of House of Fraser to get to IKEA... today we remembered not to take the first turning and we laughed about being lucky this time.

On the way home we got the right turning TWICE that we usually miss so I was saying "Oh how much luck do we have today HAHA wonder when it's going to run out" to which OH said "Hopefully not until we get home"

... oh how we laughed... until 5 miles later the car engine died and we have to call out the roadside assistance and had to get towed home:oops:

Now we need a £30 car part to get running again!

So todays lesson is DON'T tempt fate no matter how funny everything is!

D'oh!!!

We were travelling along the M25, with 20 miles to our junction, still to go,when Jackie said "we're having a clear run, are'nt we."----Doh!! 2 minutes later.........car park!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

I just couldn't believe it... it just cut out completely and we had to coast to the side of the road that was scary in itself big trucks and stupid drivers a-plenty!

The roadside assistant blokey said it was a Solenoid that had gone so it's not a big job just £30 we weren't expecting to spend but still we got a nice ride home in a big truck W~HOO!

Words will be had with Gilby (the car) tomorrow...

Maybe it was the Hadron Collider

... hang on... be back in a minute... my tinfoil hat just fell off

look at it this way:
maybe you were supposed to miss something really bad down the road - a major crash or something? you will never know what it was, because you missed it, but you are ok, thats the main thing. you were supposed to miss the bad thing by taking a wrong turning, so something else had to happen....

Awww I didn't realise you lived close enough but then I don't know where close is or isn't at the moment, only been here two years

We go frequently (although probably not for a while now lol) so next time I will let you know!!

As for saving us from something else... I'd rather break down any day than have something worse happen

According to the Mazda dealership it's going to cost us around £200 +VAT +delivery for parts as if the ignition coil has gone then X and X and X could be going too so better buy all the rubbish we don't need as well... HA... I think they think we came down in the last shower or something.

Parts £8 on e-Bay brand new and when I get it probably about 15 minutes to fix...

£200?

Honestly if you have a car learn to fix it because you can save yourself thousands of £'s a year!

Tempting fate is not a good idea, but then again so is leaving things to fate

I can fix most of the many electrical problems of rover 800 series, and do routine maintenance on them. I also changed the distributor cap and rotor arm on a mazda mx3... but forgot to put the main HT lead back in and so it still didn't work; James came down took one look replaced the lead and said "goot attempt".

I've yet to master our volvo. I've never done anything to a diesel let alone a complicated swedish one lol!!!

and yes, me and Tea both live nearby. I live about 40 mins bus drive away, Tea's on my bus route and she's about 15 mins away.
