Been to the doctors

Post: # 123258Post mrsflibble »

Sophie's GP was one heck of a lot better than my own lol!
she's being incredibly supportive and is looking into reinvestigating my thyroid problems, and she's also referring me to a psychiatrist becaue although the mood swings are connected in part to the thyroid, the voices and visual disturbances are not connected. Nor is the very veryy high feeling I get.
she was angry that dr M had prescribed Xenical and thanks to Graye for the link. I printed that one off but I found hundreds of other stating that xenical shouldnot be used on thyroid patients. not only does it aparently not work on them, it can inhibit the absorption of thyroxine AND make anxiety and depression worse  he should have read my history too.

she's alo appologised for taking so long getting soph's opthamology referral and said it was 'cos she couldn't get soph's full notes, she had no idea why. I said to her "the problem could be that our last doctor was Dr D**". the look on her face said it all.

Edit: I have removed the name of the doctor! MMM

Ooh, poor you. I hope you're feeling better and that you're finally getting the help you need. I was wingeing about a bit of arthritis earlier, then heard of a young man - very distant relative - who has developed a brain tumour. He's 27 and has a three year old son, it's just so heartbreaking. When I hear of stories such as yours and his I feel so ashamed that I'm nearly 50 and I'm complaining about a slightly dodgy ankle.
Best Wishes to you and Soph, (who I assume is the cutie in the photo) hugs BM.

MMM: his name is openly displayed in the post called *pale* ,the last bit of this post was a reference to that... the last bit of this post now makes no sense.

OK, I've never heard of him (obviously) but with libel laws and all that, I thought we should not be putting names of medical professionals on this forum especially if they are not being shown in a good light! With your link above that will be obvious to anyone reading who you are talking about, without having to mention this doctor by name on this forum.

(Not sure about UK laws but in France you may not give out names of either medical, dental or veterinary professionals openly on the internet).

I'm so glad you've found a Dr who'll listen and is prepared to act. I'm sure that getting your thyroid problem regulated will help enormously. We always did thyroid function tests on clients with many of the symptoms you described, before we even looked at a psychiatric diagnosis. Hyperthyroidism, particularly, can mimic all sorts of wild symptoms.

GREAT news Mrs F!
There are as many truly wonderful doctors out there as there are bad ones.
Glad you've finally found a good one.

Good Lord! I never knew that! So I cannot mention that Dr Alain B-ouch-leggo-oooff! (Muffled sounds of Doust being dragged off, etc...)

Well done Mrs F. Good to hear you're on a path that might help you.

I am really pleased to hear that you are finally getting somewhere. Having faith in your gp is a MUST and it sounds like you have found a good one.
It is always worth remembering that you are INTITLED to a second opinion if you are not happy with something. You dont have to just go away quietly and put up with your symptoms. Sometimes you have to be a little assertive to get yourself heard. Well done and I hope that you are feeling better soon. :flower:

Obviously you've never visited Anglo Info then! Or you'd have noticed that any recommendations must be pm'd not posted.
