Made me think - we are so lucky

Spent most of today cleaning and doing laundry. Had both rooms in use Mon&Tue for a grandmother, her daughter and grandson just up here for a break. The grandson 16 has a very rare illness called melas which over time causes more and more brain damage and muscle deteriation, becoming more debilitating untill the child dies. The young man is a very tallented artist - draws birds all the time mostly in very bright colours!

Grandmother 'phoned this evening to thank us again and told us that the grandson had 'phoned just about everybody he knows including his dad (divorsed - couldn't cope with illness) to tell them all about how enjoyed staying with us and 'helping' with the chickens!

I can't begin to imagine how his mum copes with knowing her son hasn't long to live - makes you think how lucky we are!

aww that must be really hard to live with... but perhaps it concentrates all the good stuff so that they spend quality time. Perhaps we should all live each day as if it might be our last.

How special for you to have provided such a lovely short break for that family.
