Are there any blog "experts" out there?

I'm interested in having a blog, but don't know how to set one up! Can one get free blog space (or whatever it's called!)

Any advice or info gratefully received

blogspot.com lets people have blogs for free. I have one but I've only posted there once. My mom has one she uses to share family pictures with far-away relatives.

Wordpress offer free blog space too. I used Blogger for a long time and just switched cos I find Wordpress more intuitive, but they're both pretty easy to use.
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

I use livejournal and blogger.com (blogger I'm under FOAF... (Friend of a Friend) where I can rant about my housemates without being caught...) live journal is nice, use it in conjunction with photobucket to add pics of my garden... which now has a pea!

would say Blogger is probably easier for the beginner... but I know they're both pretty simple...

[EDIT:] just to mention, I've never used any others... so out of those 2 Blogger... perhaps there's an easier one? No idea really!

my hubby is very beginner. he only just knows how to get the computer on and start the interweb running, let alone much else. oh what a difference 5 years makes in education terms, I had IT shoved down my throat to the point of buursting when I was at senior school, yet hubby got hardly any experience of computers till he hit uni.

I've used several so far, including blogspot, Xanga, Livejournal, Greatest journal, wordpress, yahoo 360, myspace, and a couple more I've forgotten.

Livejournal and Xanga seem to be the easiest to use, and Xanga has a pretty good log to monitor hits.

I've used quite a few platforms and find wordpress to be the best. But I would agree that for a complete novice Blogger is probably the easiest to manage. it's nice too because you tend to get a lot of people visiting your blog quite quickly with blogger.

enjoy, but beware; it can be an obsessive hobby once you get going ;)

I'd agree about Wordpress - it is very good, but not obvious to set up if you're a complete muppet like me. But if you've got someone IT savvy to help.

oh dear. my hubby get's like a dog with a bone over things that REALLY interest him (or annoy him) for example, he is at work and today I shall be getting down to the CAB in the town centre, with two year old in tow (thank goodness it's in the same building as the library i can get her some new books out) to see if there's a chance of appealing over his driving conviction... *slaps forehead*.
