When I do use a modern blade I find that any type of soap works, including the el cheapo guest soaps you get in hotels :wink:

Had a beard since I left the Army back in 1961 and during that time had to dry shave, so still do the cheeks and throat and as there is nothing on top her indoors chops the side bits with the clippers.
I can't do great things, so I do little things with love.

Jim only ever used to use the hard soap (palmolive I think it was) for shaving... but he started growing his beard the day we got married. he keeps it trimmed and it really suits him.
