short cut.

Post: # 9030Post Andy Hamilton »

Probally all know about these two but thought it might help anyway and I hope I explain myself well enough.

On the front page of the forum if you want to look at the last post on any section then click on the black arrow that is pointing to a bit of paper. This also works on the submenu's.

If you want to find the last posts of anyone click on there name where it appears then click on find all posts from whoever.

Yep that is it.

Is it possible to make the black arrow icons a bit larger? This is how I usually go to a post, but they're a bit fiddly. Maybe it's just poor hand/eye co-ordination.

I just click on the words! Sometimes it is hard with a mouse to make it point to something tiny.

I have had a fiddle and made the black arrow icons a bit larger, does that help? I don't think I can get them much bigger without interfering with the board design.

Ah, I see what you've done. The arrow is bigger, but the icon itself is still at 9px x 18px, so I fear it hasn't actually made it any easier to pick up with the mouse.

I don't know what is possible in terms of the board design, but my experiments show that if the whole icon is resized to, say, 12px x 24px it is much less fiddly. It should be fairly easy to resize in an image editor.

There are two icons, really; the one you have just modified is called "icon_latest_reply.gif" (Image) and appears in the Last Post column. There is another one called "icon_newest_reply.gif" (Image) that appears in the Topics column when you are signed in and have new posts to read. I usually click on the latter.

Well I took it striaght back down, it was pretty terrible I think you missed it. - We need another picture of the size that you suggested, that sums up the fact that you can click there to get to the last post. Any ideas?

Just sticky a "tips on using this forum" thread and point noobs to it when we say hello.

Or how about "-> newest"?

I've put a couple of screenshots up on photobucket.com of what I had in mind.

This is 'before' (as it is now)
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/M ... before.gif

and this is 'after' (the Image and Image icons are resized to 12px x 24px)
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/M ... _after.gif

As a graphical experiment, I didn't think it looked too bad. Do you think they're too big? I guess 10 x 20, or 11 x 22 might work. Mind you, some alternative icons might be cool, too.
