My darling husband

Post: # 97118Post lsm1066 »

Oh how I love him. His entire input into the garden is that he's said he'll cut the lawns. The rest is up to me. And with ducks currently nesting in it, he's got out of that one nicely, at least for a couple of weeks

Still, yesterday he went out to his latex suppliers and came back with a dozen used pallets for me, all in perfect condition, and the promise of as many as I want whenever I want. So the next few weeks will see me up to my armpits in power tools, making a new leafmould box (we've got 42 trees here, I really need another one) and a couple of cold frames and then making a start on my raised beds.

A stack of old pallets says it better than flowers ever could

This may be a stupid question - but what does he need a latex supplier for? :?

He's a theatrical armourer. He makes latex weapons for film, tv, theatre, but mostly for live roleplayers. And whereas he used to get it shipped in by the importers in Malaysia, we've moved 100 miles to discover a mould making suppliers in the next village who'll sell to us at wholesale (for the odd exchange of favours), thus reducing the miles from several thousand to 6. One small step forward in reducing our carbon footprint :)

Well, I was hoping it wouldn't... After all, this is a forum "suitable for the family", isn't it! But I must admit it had crossed my mind.

A very fair point. Perhaps I should just have said "one of his suppliers" to avoid confusion/concern. My apologies.

Anyway, while I think of it, do you suppose I could use pallets to build a chicken coop? After all, if I can get as many as I want, it makes sense to do as much as I can.

Don't worry - I wasn't really concerned! Would have been funny, though, wouldn't it... Say he was a manufacturer of certain latex items?

Have you ever thought of building your chicken coop out of latex?
