Who knows each other before and after ish?

Post: # 95219Post Andy Hamilton »

Remember your days before ish? Well I knew no one in Scotland other than my girlfriends family. I knew no one in Australia and knew no one in Normandy to name but a few people. I have met a handful of people because of this forum and should be meeting a few more soonish.

Although supportive only a very small number of my other mates have posted on here and only a few times. I think my mum reads it sometimes (hello mum), but is not sure about joining in.

So have you met people on this board, bought along mates to it? What is the social glue that keeps ish together?

As a newbie, I've not met anyone "for real" (yet?) off've Ish, but I'm desperate to get my mum and her other half involved, they have a really SSIsh lifestyle, and would love this forum!

I have found out that one, very quite, member is the big sister in law to my brothers bandmate.

I did introduce JohnM to the group, but he just reads over my shoulder usually and doesn't bother posting himself.

Since being a member I have met... Stoney, Shirlz, Ina, Kimmie and Cassiepod (there may have been others at the Neeps meet, I don't know now :? )

Looking forward to meeting loads more at the big ish meet in Edinburgh.

I've met Martin, Fee and Nikki at BGG. I hope I can meet some others at one meet up or another!
I've introduced the dh, and he reads over my shoulder and comments, then says "Oh you post it, I've forgotten my password" (but hehas got better at posting recently).
I've mentioned it to other people who I thought may be interested, but I never know what to call it (chat forum sounds a bit geeky and like I never leave thehouse or something!)

Haha...i was just about to mention you Circlecross!

Before ish, the only other Isher i knew was Nik (for obvious reasons - for those that don't know, she's my little sister). She joined because i kept talking about conversations on here as if they were conversations i'd had down the pub or something...

Then, we went to BGG and met Martin, Circlecross and DH01 (i thin that's what his username is...) the one that's married to circlecross.

Other than that, i've not met any other Ishers...yet! And i don't know if theres anyone that's joined on my recommendation (other than Super.Niki). I have recommended it to many people though!

I think Ish is friendly, and gentle, and people are only too happy to help, or dole out advice and good vibes without making others feel as if they've got to repay it, or not clever enough themselves. I've asked loads of stupid questions and always had answers in plain english that i understand (as opposed to 'book-speak).

"For real", I've met loads - and since NEEPS kind of started after I met Shirlz through Ish, I met even more people in the flesh. And before that, I knew only a few colleagues here...

I knew Tea. We talked on another forum, met up at a group meet through that forum, found out how much we had in common...

I keep desperately trying to get people from the French forums to come here but they are not in the least interested. They mostly go on Downsizer (the bastards!).

Anyway Green Rosie and I met up about a month ago and had a lovely day together at her place.

I'm a bit isolated over here! I do see Green Girl in Brissy every so often and did have that meet up with Andy, Day, Muddy and Wulf a couple of years ago, but will meet more of you lovely people soon!

I'd say that was a fair and reasonable reason to invade and hold Ish Day!

I'd love to meet ALL of you guys (and gals!) in "real life"... as mentioned the only person i "know" is Fee. Fairy (she loves me sooo much, thinks I'm wonderful always emailing me and ringing me... hehe!!...) but have met Martin and Circlecross and Circlecross' other half (and babies and sister?) which was lovely!! :)

Although I've not many of you in "real life" and am relatively quiet poster (I do browse a lot though, can't always be bothered to type!!) it does seem like I "know" lots of you and you've become friends in your own right... or maybe I'm too soppy at 4am? :geek:
