Great tits (of the bird kind)

Post: # 93504Post Jandra »

This morning I had a great time watching a great tit collect nesting material (which we provide) and I got some nice photo's. Here's one where the tit shows how greedy it is.

My local birds use pure cashmere... Posh, or what?

The goats loose a bit whenever they stick their heads through the hedge - comes in handy as nesting material!

This is cat's hair. I suppose untreated wool is fine too, as I've seen birds collecting it from barbed wire fences. Anything fluffy and natural, I guess.

I'm no expert. We provide the tufts of cat hair after having seen the tits collecting the hairs that got stuck on the wood from our cat's passing. So it's the tits' idea rather than ours to use their arch-enemy's fur.

I've put out washed fleece scrap (that is too short to spin) but they seem to like the dog's hair just as well

what a lovely foto Jandra :flower:

I thought "Great tits" in a selfsufficientish forum? So I wanted to check just to make sure that there is no adult material in here I should report to the moderator! What have you thought?

Cheers

Thank you. With a digital SLR camera with some zoom, youcan can make pictures like this from behind the kitchen window. The hardships of a wildlife photographer...

I've edited the title to be less ambiguous. Wouldn't want to create the wrong impression.
