Prevarication

It is a bad habit.

We’ve been in France for five years. When we arrived we changed over the plugs on most of the electrical appliances to the French type. But not the one on the deep fryer. I thought we’d do that “laterâ€

hmm, only 18 months for us, but yes, still got various things that haven't had their plugs changed over. Iron is one of them, but it only gets used about three times a year
Some can't be changed as they have adaptors in the plug, so we are stuck with UK four way sockets for that lot.

Met an English couple once, who had just bought a house here and whilst chatting mentioned that they would need to change the plugs. Met them a few weeks later and they told me they had changed the plugs but when they moved in they found English points. The people they bought the house from had been an English couple who said all the French fittings were cr-p so brought all the plumbing and electrics from the UK. PLus floor tiles, water heaters, etc. Sad.

I have been in my house three years and I don't think I hav washed a window yet, and I painted half the conservatory. We now have a light fitting needing repaired (three weeks) and the living room door has cracked along the jamb so will need to be re-hung (1 week).

It took us a year to move the shed, we have loads of clothes and books that need to go to a charity shop and recently dh put the dishwasher non ebay after a year of nagging.

I don't know what we do with our time (she says, tapping away on the computer...)

I dug out a huge amount of spoil by hand, mixed and poured a concrete foundation by hand, built a retaining wall and then ran out of concrete blocks and mortar with just six to go.

Three years on, it's still waiting to be finished, but I'd argue that I haven't been able to find six reclaimed concrete blocks of the right size yet, while I haven't yet come up with a job for the best part of a new bag of mortar...

I can come up with another good one: I started making a shirt for OHs birthday for November 2004, I 80% finished it and guess what, it is still sat in my sewing box having been shipped the other side of the world. However I am determined to finish it this week.

I have a half knitted blanket made with wool I bought over 10 years ago. There is a reason though, I found I'm allergic to the wool so I can only get this particular knitting out during hayfever season when I'm taking antihistamines anyway.

The problem is that the wool is green and I've redecorated so the blanket won't go in my house now anyway.

Anyone want to take on a half-finished knitting project?

Zoe
