OUCH!!!!

Post: # 92581Post old tree man »

Well i decided to sevice the vehicle for the summer you know brakes, oil, filters, ect so every thing was going swimmingly, then just as i was rotating the wheel to check the brakes were not pinching i left my little finger in the way and wham ! caught my little finger between the disc and the caliper and it slit my finger from the nail to the knuckle, well i said words like pooh ! bother ! gosh !,
My goodness how much blood can come out of finger, the wierd thing is it didn't hurt till i looked at it, so down the casualty Jane took me and they patched me up and sent me on my way, you know with that look "men",
they did a great job. so now i am sat here with the battalion of the scots guards walking all over my hand ( well it feels like it  ).
Jane has been her usual wonderful self bringing me tea and pain killers and the occasional kiss for being a brave soldier because you women know how well us men can cope with pain
So i am typing this with one finger (no change there then )
Well at least i got the service done

Ouch! You have my sympathy! I did a similar thing during a 10 hour practical exam. I was cutting some metal conduit and it sprang back slashing my first 2 fingers on my right hand. So, holding them pointing upwards towards my lecturer ( ), with blood dripping off my elbow I asked if he had a plaster. It took ages for the first aider to come so I had to sneak into the nearby cafe for some napkins to mop myself up! Once parched up I had to complete the rest of my exam - about another 3 hours! Never mind - I still came out with a distinction - not bad for the only middle aged woman in a class of trainee sparkies!
Anyway OTM - I do hope your digit is soon fully healed!

Ouch to both of you!
OTM it is strange how it only starts to hurt when you see the injury though isn't it! Hope you will soon be back typing with 2 fingers
Take care, and good on Jane looking after you :thumbright:

Ewww - I once stuck my finger into a hand held blender wand, trying to dislodge some stuck stuff from under the blade. Unfortunately I was holding the part with the button on and my finger twitched and pulsed it on. I didn't want to look, but finally dared to. Luckily the blade had hit the nail and spliced it in twain - if it had hit the soft pad it probably would've sliced it off :pale:

Hard luck, Russ - but never mind. In a couple of weeks, you'll be able to play the piano and violin again ...

sympathies, at least you did it doing something useful, I now have a harry potter type scar on the back of my hand due to half sleepwalking and falling over cute kitten (and landing on a wine glass on the floor), had to have tendon repair. But by heck it hurt (it woke me up if nothing else) and yes I think I said golly gosh as well.

Having had a couple (ish) of glasses of red on Saturday night some years ago, I decided it would be really nice to light the open fire in the living room and sit and watch the TV with my OH (you get the picture I'm sure).

So was quite disappointed to find there was no kindling with which to make up said fire, decided I would split some pine there and then with the little axe on the living room floor.

Unfortunately for some inexplicable reason, my aim was a little off, and so I tried to add the first finger of my left hand to the kindling pile.

Ouch :pale:

Luckily the axe rebounded off the knuckle bone, and just left a deep V cut.
Sobered up pretty quick, stuck some adhesive stiches over it, bandaged it up, and cleaned up the blood, then lay on the sofa feeling shaky. OH - who passes out at the sight of blood managed to hide in the kitchen until everything was cleaned up.

Oyah! Hope it heals quickly!

Reminded me of a tale from OH who used to work in restaurants - lad in kitchen cleaning meat slicer bumps the on/off switch and cuts the end of his finger off. He returns to work a few weeks later and a newbie in the kitchen says "What happened to your finger" Well I was cleaning the slicer like this and hit the on switch like this OYAH! Another two weeks off and another finger tip missing!

Almost as bad as the novice KP (Kitchen porter) in a busy pub kitchen: chef shouts - KP grab that fish out of the fryer! .....and he did. Deep fried hand
