at the end of the day to deny access on the basis of maintenance is looked on very dimly in the courts, same goes if maintenance is denied because of lack of access. It is not the answer, it's blackmail.

Gather your evidence, as much as you can, and prove he is hiding income........if the inland revenue happen to hear about cash in hand jobs through a third party it would be an awful shame

oh god i can assure you i would never dent access over money...for all his faults and he has a lot of them lol..he does see the girls every weekend without fail ...so in that respect hes great

weve tried talking about money but he is a gambler and very secretive etc about anything financial

its good that he is an active part of their lives but not so good he has an addiction to wasting money, why not try talking to someone close to him be sneaky and I'm sure someone will know something. especially if he is working

failing that if he can't give you money direct give him £100 worth of shopping food and clothes, spread it around the month I'm sure he won't realise what you are doing especially as addictive minds don't function properly

just to give all those of you a piece of hope regarding maintenance and the CSA.

This morning I doubled checked again to see if the maintenance due to my children was in my account, it wasn't. I rang the CSA, thinking they would be of little use but one must go through the motions. Their response?

"We have sent an 'officer' round and he has 'extracted' the default payment via a 'card' and a new 'payment collection' has been secured, hopefully".

In other words they sent in a debt collector to demand money and the fine for late payment and probably secured payment through the employer..albeit it's a fictitious one.

The time scale for this? 10 days!

Their computer flagged up the default the day it was due, but then it flagged up the late payments every month too so they had been keeping an eye on it.

But for once I can say I am impressed by the CSA's prompt, and unprompted by me, action...just as it said in the new rules!
