really strange request

Post: # 84111Post mrsflibble »

ok this is going to sound very weird. I am trying to find any way i can to screw my letting agent to the wall....
Just to annoy them a little further I wish to show them that I have noticed that their logo is actually a clipart, and they are therefore violating copyright laws by using it as the logo for a commercial venture. This is on top of their many violations of the 1985 landlords and tenants act lol!!!

I'm almost certain it's a CA from an older version of word, but my copy of word (2007 student edition) doesn't have it as a clip art if it really DOES belong to them.....
anybody recognise it? anybody able to tell me what version it's from?!

I have fuzzed out their name and this is the best version of their logo i could get from the website; my scanner is currently up on blocks to badly mis-use a car metaphor....

In my version (2000) there is one that is similar although the buildings are office blocks rather than houses. However it is otherwise strikingly similar. Not sure how to add it to this post so you can see! If you give me idiot-proof instructions I'll try...

It's a bit dull for a logo, say no more about agents.
too many interests, not enough cash.

Fizzy:
* open the picture.
* press the screen print button on your keyboard (it's near delete)
open microsoft paint
* press control and then v. press control first, then keep pressed while you also press v, then let go. it may ask you if you want to resize the bitmap. click yes. OR go to edit>paste, it will probably still ask about the bitmap thing.
* go to file>save as, name it something stupid like "house" but remember to do a while filename; "house.jpg" you must remember the .jpg part. make sure you're saving it somewhere you'll remember- I am forever losing pictures by saving them somewhere stupid.
* get a free piclynk or photobucket account by going to www.piclynk.com or www.photobucket.com. follow their foolproof instructions to upload your picture to them. always click that you have the right to the copyright... it's a grey area, you do and you don't but they wont let you upload if you don't so err on the side of lying a bit.
* you will be given 3-4 lines of code which correspond to the picture. you need to pick the one which starts [img]
*in photobucket you can copy with one click I think, in piclynk you need to select the code and press ctrl and c.
* re-open this page, this post and post a reply. press ctrl and v again to get the code into here. it will look like a line of gobbledeegook, but so long as it begins with we are fine.

:D

It definitely does look like clipart from an old version of word, my 2007 version does not have it, and I did look at the clipart online. My suspicion is that it is from a very old version, possible for windows 3.1 or just after, as yes I do remember seeing it. Try doing a general search on the net for black and white clipart the house, also try microsoft office online site, I would do it myself but on my current connection I lose the will to live afer waiting for the first few pages

Found it, not an exact copy, but it is obvious they have taken a microsoft picture and altered it slightly (there may be others on the microsoft online clipart that match better)

Fizzy, that's it!!
no, I'm not trying to get evicted.... and I have given up; purely 'cos it's the landlord that's being a p***er not the letting agent. but it's nice to have another arrow in my bow so to speak...
so, lets see now:
numerous violations of the landlord and tenants act including at least two which could have resulted in death or injury to tenants,
one violation which can and is causing damage to another property adjacent to this one,
refusal to keep to their side of the 1985 landlord and tenants act (section 11; it's about maintenance and protection of tenant's possessions),
being a flipping butt-head about ANYTHING we ask purely 'cos he/she/it doesn't want to spend money, but again being in direct violation of the laws of this country...

but hey, while ever she/he/it needs the cash, we are willing to live here so long as we are not in mortal danger... which we arn't. anymore. the pressing issues have been fixed.

and again, it's nice to have something to fall back on if the buggers try to charge us for problems with the house which arnt our fault when we leave. rather than drag it through the courts we can bring up this list and settle so to speak. if it does come to court (nearly did with our first terrible landlord/slumlord) then at least this time we have the means to argue.

I can be vindictive if crossed enough times.
