Three years ago there was a good one - two brothers in their 70's who had collected all sorts of agricultural stuff over the years and were selling up due to old age and not being able to insure their growing collection. It was at this sale that bought my good old Jalo Cultivators

Today was something special though - loads of vintage tractors, bulldozers, boxscrapers, vintage implements, carts, you name it! It was a lovely sunny day too and the crowds turned out in force to support a collector who had passed away and his family had been forced to sell his collection.

Some had been fully restored.

There were lots of vintage crawlers!

How could I have hooked this trap upto my Land Rover?

There were 5 or 6 of these Caterpillars that fetched between £5,000 and £7,000 each!

The auctioneer (who also sold me my Jalo's and door top) would do the 600 lots without a break and after doing all the tools/small items (which included a full pallet piled 3ft high with tractor magazines!) was transported round the big lots in the field on a trailer.

He is somewhere in the middle of the crowd! A great turn out on a great day to see what is becoming a rare event - soon there will be no vintage stuff like this left to sell.
