The dial has moved from radio 1 to 2 and 4

Post: # 85908Post Andy Hamilton »

There was a scene on the simpsons where grampa simpson says to homer what is coll seems weireed and alien to you and what you think is coll is the same to them. As the radio dial becomes ashamed of radio 1 and adores radio 2 &4 ..... in fact I have had an argument with my Radio6 music producer mate - wogan is not that bad.

anyway my point is, when did you notice you were no longer cool and a teenager ( or either or).

I've never been a cool teenager - I've always been senile!! lol
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

I have never considered myself cool, but I seem to have been, as Iain Banks calls it "a pivotal person". However much I tried to be a loner, and individual, my prescence was sought and my ideas copied.
This is not to say I am big headed about the deal, it happens. I am seeing it in my eldest now aswell.
It still happens, as I think I am off the wall, and then I read in the Grandiau that everyone is composting or what the trendiest pair of garden clogs are, or what cloth nappy the great and good are choosing!

So although I never think i am cool, and never try to be, I am still zeitgeisty! Yee hah! :geek:

Don't think I ever was cool - although there must have been a time when I tried my hardest!

Yeah I was never cool, but not smart enough to be a nerd either, so I had to make do with kind of daggy! :munky2:

Firstly, Wogan is terrible, don't get me started... (yeah for Johnnie Walker being on just now)
Second, I used to listen to 6music all the time, but now E copies words she hears it is grosley inappropriate... plus they moved Gideon Coe opposite Radcliffe and Maconi, thats just mean.

I wish I was a cool and funky... but I can't be bothered with the money spending ethos...

All our friends think we are cool :?

We just do our own thing and don't care about what other people think... currently we are apparently cool for living in the sticks and breaking our backs setting up our mini-holding :?

There was something on the Today programme last week about Ireland voting for its Eurovision entry. I do miss having a tv as I love listening to Wogan's commentary of the song contest!

When I was about 15.....

If it makes you feel better, even Radio 2 is too hip for me. I listen to Radio 3 and 4....

 me neither perhaps we aint cool ... or is it cuss I don't watch the Simpson's... I don't listen to the radio either for the same reason I don't watch the news ... I am sick of listening to claptrap and their naff choices of music ... :geek:

I make my choices for life and thats really cool and being a teenager is highly over rated in my opinion, even when I was a teenager and thats was a while back. All that stress of boys, schooling, gossips, no money to do anything. Folks keep turning you down for jobs because of lack of experience... nah .... So to answer Andys question ... I must have been born 20 and got older

and talking of Wogan .... there was a trailer on tele last night for Euro vision

I don't think I was ever cool. Apparently, I am more of a nerd than 76% of people on Facebook. But I think they've been telling fibs.

And I still listen to Radio 1. I did dabble with Radio 2 once, but it wasn't long before the dial was moved back. I need my fix of Moyles and Mills whilst I'm pottering around in the kitchen, though I will concede that most of the music is crap. (Although thankfully there is more talent creeping onto the radio than there was a few years ago...). Though I do sometimes listen to Radio 3 on the digibox thingie whilst I'm reading - they have some ace World Music on.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Cool as in 'Cool Britannia'? I don't think so. Nowadays I listen to a mix of 1Xtra, R2, the odd podcast from R4, Iain Lee on Virgin, and stations from other countries. I'd love to listen to Clive Bull on LBC, but their internet streams don't seem to work well for me.
