Justskint - the land isn't worth 2k - even to us! If we'd wanted it we'd have paid no more than £500. It is easily waterlogged - so not really much good for gardening and there is no way you can build on it - that's what the planning permission says. The only reason we considered the possibility of owning the land was as a water garden.

Did you say they paid 4k for it, presumably plus solicitors fees. What's the size of plot then? Nothing imaginative to be done to add to your plot, so adding to the value of your house and garden.
too many interests, not enough cash.
