I'm getting annoyed with poeple phoning here and sending leaflets and mailing list stuff through to the ex tenants. I've actually started having a go at the telesales person which I know isn't nice but it seems to be the only way to get my point across.

Perhaps you should try what Nambarie Tea did in an old TV ad....

Woman comes in from work(stressed)....phone rings.....cold telesales call....woman asks caller to hold the line....then winds up child's musical toy and places it by the phone.....goes and makes a cup of tea....pours tea...picks up phone and says "thank you for holding. Your call is important to us"....sits down and leisurely drinks tea

Always wanted to do that but never get any cold calls!

We started getting so many sales and marketing calls that we've stopped answering the phone. If real people don't talk on the answering machine so we can pick it up, or call them back, tough!

Yes - there are certain times of the day and evening that I never answer the phone, either. And that although I'm signed up with the preference service... Also, if you pick up the phone and there is nothing for a second or two, you know it's a call centre - so the phone goes back on the hook!

Trouble is cold calers are usually on the minimum wage, what a thankless job.
