Hi Everyone
In my experience, cats do as they please (just like teenagers) and choose where they want to be! We've just lost our golden lab. She was such a lovely animal, so good natured, easily pleased & so devoted. There was definitely a pecking order in the house - she was first & foremost my husbands dog (he's suffering the most now), closely followed by our son, then me & unfortunately our daughter was viewed as least important!
I've not had a cat since my last one moved next door. We were leaving the area & I had to ask if the neighbours wanted to keep him or whether I could take him with us. He stayed. However, during this weekend we've had a ginger & white cat walk in on us. It's spending a lot of time here & I aught to find out if it has a home on the street. It's in good condition, if a little thin.

While I was farm sitting for a friend, two tabby kittens turned up at her front door. Now I knew that she always wanted a tabby, but I hadn't heard about any additions to her livestock - they really just turned up when the family was away, and now they are there almost every day. Neighbours don't know where they might come from, but it's a farming area, and sometimes there are semi-feral cats around. Let's hope they stay. Don't know what the "cat in residence" thinks about it...

Hi
I've been so busy I've not had time to surf much recently! I should be working right now, but it's quiet. SShhh, don't say anything to the boss
The puss stayed with us for about a week then dissappeared. Found out later it belongs to a family on the next street who went away for the week at Aug bank holiday! Whether they just left it out or the cat sitter let it escape, I don't know.
Anyway, we brought an 8 week old black lab pup home on Thursday, so we're parents again
What fun - I've never had a puppy before.

Good to see you back! And congratulations on becoming parents
. One of these days I'll get myself a puppy, too. That's the plan, anyway - I'll probably end up with some unwanted dog, which is fine with me, but might be a bit of a problem with the cat in residence.
By the way, my friend's two tabbies are still there. They are called Hiss and Spit - guess why!

Re: Hi Everyone
Well, what lots of cat lovers as well as selfsufficienters!
We have had cats for years and I just wonder about cat food. Mine seem to be addicted to the most expensive stuff -what do manufacturers put into it that seems to get cats hooked? Would trying to give them " home made" cat food be bad for them, take me hours boiling up stinky fish heads or what? What do other people do?
One of ours adopted us and we called her "pussy' for years because we were comvinced her real owners had given her a real name .....then it began to sound a bit rude, shouting it outside the back door.....
