There is advice that you never ever under any circumstance use soap made with lye on your hair (my hair soap has no lye): See this link:

If you want to be happy for a day, buy a car. If you want to be happy for a weekend, get married. If you want to be happy for a lifetime, be a gardener.

For the laaadies out there, this link might be interesting.

It's an observant Jewish site with instructions on how to tie different styles of scarves. I thought it might be useful for anyone who is trying not to wash their hair but feels embaressed my the greasy stage. You can just cover your head, if your scarf gets icky, stick it in the washing machine.

Interesting topic. I have very long hair too. I use Lush Caca Rouge to dye it. I used to be absolutely obsessed with washing it every day, but I have arthritis and bending over the bath (we have no shower) started to become a bit of a pain (literally) at times. So I wash it an average of once a week now, using either a Lush shampoo bar or just water and essential oils. My hair is in really good condition, is clean and shiny and does not smell at all. (Even asked the other half to sniff it too
)

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here and drink what comes out"?
Who was the first person to say, "See that chicken over there ... I'm gonna eat the first thing that comes out if its butt"?

I am growing my hair and when it was short I washed it every 2 days. Any longer and I could smell it (and on my pillow). Now it gets too fluffy and irritating after being washed so I am only washing every 4 days and it doesn't seem to get so greasy or smell.
Today it hasn't been washed for 6 days because I've broken my foot (
) and it's starting to feel a bit greasy, but actually preferable to the just washed frizzy feeling!

Oh MMM, I am sorry.
Back to the subject of hair, I very occasionally straighten mine. I don't do it often as it takes about an hour and my arms are killing me by the time I finish. But I have noticed that I can go much longer without washing it when it's straight. I can brush it regularly which really helps and keeps the dust out of it.
I got to work this morning and noticed that I have loads of white paint in my hair from last night.
Nobody's said anything yet but they're bound to have noticed. I'm sitting here trying to pick it all out now.

Well fortunately we're all slobbing around in jeans these days as we're clearing out the warehouse so it doesn't matter too much. There's only 6 of us left now and we all get along pretty well so they wouldn't really care. Plus I'm the boss now so they wouldn't dare say anything anyway. It would have been really awful if I worked in a shop or something where lots of people would have seen it.
It's a shame as I shall have to wash it now and it's so lovely and straight. My arms still ache from straightening it on Monday.
Cheers
