Slowness of this site

Post: # 6214Post Millymollymandy »

Anyone else having a problem? I look at the site every morning but at least half the time it goes sooooooooo slowly I often have to give up. Other times I switch screens and look at another site whilst I am waiting to get into a thread to have a read or whilst I'm trying to post something.

It's really bad (and yes I'm on ADSL and no, don't have probs with other sites).

Normally it's okay (I've seen worse!). However, I did end up with a double post yesterday (my first on this site) because it looked like I hadn't submitted my entry.

Agreed. Usually it's OK, but occasionally it becomes incredibly slow. It has been for the past couple of days. Presumably something to do with the server this site is hosted on.

Now I'll go and make a cup of tea while this message gets sent.

Sometimes it is slow to load and I am on broadband. But I am a patient bird and tend to flick on to something else, whilst I'm waiting. 8)

Yep sorry can get a bit slow a victim of our own success really. We don't have the band width to cope with too many people at once.

Should be back on line soonish as I think my old ISP has finally cut me off so I can get a new one, when that happens then I will have to see about getting a bigger bandwidth for the site. Its on my increasing list of things to do when I get back on-line

You don't know what slow is... Actually, funny enough although everything else on our computers is veeeeeryyyy slooooooow (and often enough the b*** thing crashes just when you are trying to send a mail), this site has been quite ok. Anyway, we finally managed to persuade one of our IT department to visit us and have a look, and they found out that somebody must have bumped the satellite dish out of line! Just by a fraction, but that's enough to make it work at only 1/50 of it's capacity. Or so he said.

Keep fingers crossed that now somebody else makes their way out here to get the dish back in line! Gosh, we'll be almost as fast as racing pigeons then!

Of course, I could just get my backside off the seat and start setting up my own computer. Which is still sitting on top of the pile of junk in the spare room, and has been sitting there for a year, I believe

Back to being painfully slow again, so slow I have to go off and do something else whilst attempting to post this!
