Post: # 5897Post shiney »

Well, I just had to take a pic of this baby!

Anyone seen one as big?

Shall I roast it with a few spuds?!!!

The biggest ones I've seen this year were, fortunately, nowhere near my garden but safely located a long distance away on the Camino el Santiago in northern Spain. These were black ones, over half an inch wide and 6"+ long!

The little blighter that I caught, was happily chomping away on my carrots. He is now an ex slug!

I'd rather stick with neither of them...

But don't you find it very satisfactory to catch a big beastie like that and dispose of it?

We seem to have a massive influx of Daddy longlegs this year. Doesn't bode well for the leatherjacket count next year... They can be very distructive, too.

I stick them in a tub with secure lid (Rachel's yoghurt tubs are fine...), or a screw top jar before they go in the bin. Can't bring myself to kill them outright, so I just lock them up and leave them to die. Now what does that say about me, I wonder... :?

I will never come near you if you have a jam jar in your hand!

I am very claustrophobic ~ may be I was a slug in my last life.

Good idea tho' I put them in my wheelie bin and then if they get out, that's lucky. My ol' man salts them in a bucket. YEUUUKKK!

Ew! I share them with the neighbours (pick 'em up & hurl 'em). I am the only one around growing veggies so I suppose it doesn't matter......................

Good idea Wulf, dya know I never thought of 'composting' them!

I know we are squeamish but there's nothing like a rant of those pesky slugs.
