Have replaced hasp and staple with a squire hasp and staple and a squire lock.. and put a shed alarm in
We shall see what happens next
Shed broken into
I never lock my shed because if you have a big lock on a shed the morons will think theres stuff worth stealing in it, reverse psychology seems to work. I just make sure I have nothing of value in it and if you do hide it in a good place the morons wont look. For example my radio is kept in a bucket under a plastic bag full of ashes so it looks like a bin full of fire ash.
I keep my tools in a buried metal box with a piece of wood on top and some pots on top.

Our allotments are all hedged and gated. If you leave the door open, I'm told that other allotment holders come and help themselves so they are all padlocked. Apparently the people who are breaking in and NOT vandalising are people looking for stuff to sell at car boots. If wanton damage is done, it's kids.
My neighbours stopped locking their shed when they realised that this encouraged thieves to think something worth taking was inside. They keep a 'compost heap' with a space concealed underneath for tools. Another neighbour puts hers under a heap of carpet in the hedge. I conceal mine in full view by sticking them in the ground as though they are plant supports or thrusting them into the hedge.

Living dangerously close to a large caravan site, we have to keep everything locked - even my henhouse! I am lopsided from carrying a huge bunch of keys everywhere.
In my days in the navy, there was zero thieving. The reason was simple. It went that if you were caught thieving, someone would, apparently, drop one of the unfeasibly heavy watertight hatches that separated the decks on your fingers as you negotiated the ladder.
In my 6 years at sea, I never saw anyone with missing fingers; nor did I ever have anything stolen.
