Hiya :)

Post: # 47184Post TheLancsLass »

Hi everyone,

I am a wife and mum and live in Kent. We are 'doing our bit' but are always looking to live a greener and more self sufficient lifestyle.

We recycle rubbish, I make new things out of old (just recovered my dining room chairs out of my old lounge curtains today! lol), knit our own scarves, we forage and as a herbalist we use and eat a lot of wild herbs and foods. I guess I am old fashioned too because I like to eat good old fashioned hearty foods with plenty of organic veg and I bake my own bread. We have turned down our heating and try and keep our electricity and gas usage to a minimum and re-use our carrier bags.

We are looking into keeping chickens at the moment to see if it is possible and I am so glad to have found this site, from what I have read so far it is amazing!

Looking forward to chatting with you all and keep up the good work, this site is fab!

G'Day Sal,

Welcome to the forum.

"doing our bit" is great! If more people did we wouldn't be in the poo now!

This really interests me too. Probally a bit of a big question but which herbs do you use for what?

Look forward to reading your posts and welcome.

a VERY BIG question! lol

I have around 60-70 organic herbs in stock at anyone time, I use them for healing, wellbeing and health, for cooking with, for brews and teas, for bath soaks etc.

My favourites and ones I use regularly are: Mugwort, chamomile, peppermint, valerian, echinaecia, calendula, lavender, feverfew, comfrey etc.

I have lists and articles for healing properties of herbs, ancient names of herbs and how to make herbal brews etc if anyone is interested?
