"Not in front of the children" petition
Money Saving Expert is runniing a petition to stop advertising for debt adverts shoudln't be shown on childrens telly. I agree. They are aimed at the Mum who stays at home with her kids and who is panicking about Xmas, birthdays, the mortgage payment, etc and wondering how she can get out of the hole. The payments may only be a small amount each month, but the interest charges are incredible (I'm in the wrong business!) and frankly I think it is usery!

another thing about these advert is - my children have seen them and when I say we haven't enough money for X thing once or twice they have said 'we saw this thing on tv and people give you money for holidays and cars and everything!'
so I've then had to explain to a 9 and 5 year old what the adverts are really about and how bad they/debt can be. I think about all the children it's no explained too
what are they growing up thinking? don't worry when you want something, there's alway someone to hand you money

Signed as well, how many parents will buckle under the pressure when their kids wanting play stations and the like also know that their parents can get loans to pay for it all (But mummy, if you consolidated all your loans into one that will cripple you financially for life you could afford to get me a pony).
