101 Uses for old Wellingtons

101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

This link is for sandals made from tyres... but you could adapt the pattern to make from wellies!!

A guy on our allotments gave me some spuds today. he had a bucket with holes in the bottom and he filled thw bucket full of spuds then hosed them off. The water and mud ran out of the holes and he was left with nice clean spuds (which he gave me - what a nice man!). You could use holey wellies for washing your spuds.

Those wellies look better on the photo than in reality!

That tattie washing facility sounds a good idea, too.

Oh dear, dead wellie garden... Sounds awful, but you are right. Time to do something about them! One pair will soon be reduced to slip ons for the garden. I think sandals might be a bit of a problem, what with steel toecaps...

Bazil - how long have you lived in Scotland? Never eaten tatties and neeps  ?

Yes, they are swedes - or Swedish turnips, to give them their full name.
