We may be having a guest for dinner. We're one of these remote Highland practices that can't attract a permanent GP and the locum (a regular) will be residing, possibly the sole resident, in a local hotel so we've invited him to join us if he's bored/not too busy/can be bothered etc. We won't really have know if he's coming until the day so the house needs to be habitable (I was going to say spotless but couldn't stop laughing enough to type it). It's amazing what level of squalor you can sink to when renovating, or maybe that's just us.
After several years of chaos of one type or another we now having fully functioning house, with walls, floors and ceilings all finished! Some so finished they're probably ready to finish again.

It will be nice to go into 2018 with a warm. comfy house in which each room has a designated purpose (sometimes more than one), is not filled with accumulated junk and doesn't make visitors sit on the edge of their seat.
