Hello everyone
I'm a complete novice at this and got my first garden last year. Just to tell you how new I am, I asked someone how many courgettes I should plant this year (there's only me and my partner) and he told me at least 6. So I'm already learning a bit. I've got about a million questions and they're all probably like the courgette one so please have patience with me.

Hi Hugh, welcome to Ish
Have a look round and make yourself comfy. Then maybe you'd like to tell us some more about yourself.

Hello Hugh
Four years ago my questions were all like that, too, but I've learnt a lot here, so hopefully by now I can even answer some questions, though I still have plenty of my own.
I hope you are sharing your bounty with the person who told you to plant so many courgettes. Sharing very generously

Re: Hello everyone
Hi Hugh welcome, the traditional thing to do with marrows as far as I can remember (because courgettes can turn zeppelin overnight), is to go out at night and leave them on the neighbours doorsteps, well that is what my mum got me doing when I was a 9 year old so it must be right

Hello and welcome from Wiltshire
Oh dear, I feel your pain - still, courgettes make great compost!
Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

Re: Hello everyone
Hi Hugh
Courgettes can be eaten raw in salad - I pick one very small one every day for my lunch, so they don't take over quite so quickly!
And, ergh, yes, I still plant too many... Must remember next year - I really don't need two plants just for myself. I actually have three (last one in a container), because unusually all my seeds grew well, nothing was eaten by slugs, and I just can't throw away plants... And nobody wanted one, either.
