We're thinking of going to Carcassonne in the south of France and would like to know if anyone could tell us the best beach to visit near by.
We're hoping there will be lots of culture to soak up in Carcassonne so we're looking for a beach/sun/holiday feel for when visiting the coast if you see what I mean?!

Re: Carcassonne
Obviously you're not exactly on top of the coast in Carcassonne (which is jolly good BTW - have the cassoulet. In fact, that's about all you'll get, morning, noon & night. My idea of heaven), but if it were me I'd head for Perpignan and look for a smallish place nearby called Canet Plage. This is not exactly a picture of undiscovered loveliness, but it is a good beach!
