Potentially made a scientific discovery
I have found that rust mould kills bindweed (potentially) as all the bindweed that decided to grow up my hollyhocks which are suffering badly from it has died. Has anyone else come across this? Or does it smack of using a guillotine to cure a migraine?

I've looked all over the place and can't see any other mention of it. This may be the kind of thing which would interest the RHS.

Re: Potentially made a scientific discovery
I don't want to wee on anyones chips, but I've known bindweed to overextend itself height wise, and dry up and die,all convulvulous is a bit weird, and of course 95%of hollyhocks have rust,so it could be a coincidence.
On the other hand you're probably in line for a Nobel Prize, but either way forget the RHS,call Monsanto and negotiate massive royalties.....then if it didn't work you'd still be quids in.....and they'd be in the s--t!!

the bindweed reached a height of about 8 inches before it died

It's not all about size, ya know....at least, that's what Mr Twiglet tells me...
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
