Spring sprung ?
Spring sprung ?
My Victoria plum reckons spring is here ...
As does my Morello cherry, just waiting for a burst of sunshine ...
As does my purple sprouting broccoli ...
But my nasturtiums still reckon it's last year, living proof of no frost so far this winter ....

Re: Spring sprung ?
My nasturtiums did that twice during the winter then got knocked out by heavy frost! Just as well, I don't really want them swamping my veg patch just yet.
My first daffodil was out about Friday but no swallows yet.

I hope you smug lot have got a bucket of water outside ready for that fatefull late frost you're all tempting !!(even you lot out in the mid-Atlantic).
Re: Spring sprung ?
smug ! .. SMUG ! .. SMUG ! .. me ?
Perish the thought.
Susie, Gregorach is right, it's far too early for PSB, that out of season delicacy is reserved for us smug mid-Atlantic dwellers.
While am "at" it, here's a picture of a couple of volunteer potatoes that have been growing in the veg patch since January.
Along with buttercup, dandelion, clover, daisies et al ....

Re: Spring sprung ?
Well actually ...
I do have strawberries just coming into flower, but they are in the conservatory so don't count.
My myrtle is still fruiting though and I pick some a couple of times a week for my breakfast muesli, and they taste a bit strawberryish.

You lot are all in areas where there has been rain obviously. It's a very dry spring here.

Dry here too but it's still winter
- however it does mean we can get out and get on with lots of jobs. Lovely sunshine today and saw first two flutterbies, a brimstone and a peacock. That's really made my day.

Re: Spring sprung ?
We seem to be going backwards down the valley here in cornwall.
My Camelea is just budding, 4 weeks later than usual and the Snowdrops are about 7 or 8 weeks behind last year ( must be the cold triggers them to start growing)
Still possitive thing is the grass isn't growing!
Oh Gregg, I have done my apple pruning.......but I got a load of raspberries to move.... best do it soon.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.
Re: Spring sprung ?
It's been remarkably warm here.So much so that the bats have been flying aroundfor a couple of days.
Last night a pipestrelle flew in through a downstairs window and did a few circuits of the kitchen and hall before I managed to shepherd it out with the aid of a plastic laundry basket(obviously I checked 1st to make sure it wasn't Mrs OJ popping out for one of her nightly trips).
Still think we might get another frost or two though.
