Rhubarb concerns
At the end of last year, I planted 2 rhubarb crowns: Champagne and Victoria.
The Champagne is looking good with 4-5 leaves big like my hand. The Victoria: nothing...
Although they are next to each other, I've followed the spacing guidelines. So what's wrong? Should the Victoria start to grow later?
I know I'm not allowed to pull any this year but It's the first thing I've planted in our new garden and I love looking at its pinkish stalks.

Re: Rhubarb concerns
My established rhubarb was in leaf when I took photos for my blog of 9 December 2011:

These plants were given to me by a chap who helped me gardening in Gloucestershire from his garden. When I moved to Cornwall I took them with me and again when I came to Brittany. They do so well and loads of people have had crowns from me. I have no idea what type it is, but it is prolific.

Re: Rhubarb concerns
Thank you all for reassuring me. I will wait patiently for it to grow.
Off to find other things to worry about : )

I planted 8 crowns last year which i grew from seed and so far nothing is showing
i'm hoping its to early but i did think it would be showing some life with the climate here in Cornwall

Re: Rhubarb concerns
Mine is sprouting (has for a while judging by the frost damage) but the garden has been too wet to look at it:

Re: Rhubarb concerns
I transplanted one into a pot which is in the cold frame and there's no signs of life from it yet. I think it is too early, and we've only just had a really cold spell.

Re: Rhubarb concerns
Some signs of life but not from all the crowns at all, they are Victoria I planted from seed two years ago.
It'll come hopefully!

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.
