This is written by an American - Jennifer Reese.
It's a really interesting book. She goes through all the stuff that people buy on a regular basis and works out whether it's time/money efficient to make it yourself. For example, peanut butter. She gives a really easy method for making peanut butter and then gives the cost of making vs. the cost of buying.
There are loads of recipes!
I made her bagels, and apart from having to add another cup of flour, they were really nice!
