Monumental Moments?

On a different thread Big Al wrote this
I don't drink alcohol and at 7 pm on the 22nd of January 2012 it will be 26 years since I last had a drink but I bet if you count up all you drink it will be close to a full bottle of wine every week.
I couldn't help wondering what was so significant that he remembered the details. Then I thought about my own monumental moment Giving up smoking. Christmas Eve 1999. We were taking our first visit to Canada to stay with family for the millennium. Okay so I knew it was Canada ergo cold and snow laden but I thought I'd be able to pop out for a fag as long as I put a coat on  So without any forward planning I stopped and never went back to it.
Have any of you any monumental moments you'd like to share ?

The day I went to the doctors feeling unwell and ended up spending 2 days in hospital. That was when I was diagnosed with an incurable condition. It might be incurable but I can treat the symptoms and manage living my life with it. Diabetes, type 1, insulin injections to stay alive.

i have 3!

3rd of march 2007 - i married my husband
23rd of september 2007 - our daughter was born
8th of july 2011 - our son was born

my family are the best thing thats happened to me.
my husband near enough 'rescued' me from staggering intoxicated about streets in greece, and gave me somewhere to stay. my life was spiraling out of control slightly from being just about continuisly high on drugs and alcohol. i did a lot of stuff i regret now but was too intoxicated to even contemplate at the time. i was really lucky to have met my husband. if i haddent no doubt something really scerious could of happened to me.

and now my life is in such an amazing place, i have my husband to thank for that :)
